Tata Steel Introduces a Slew of Leaves For Women, LGBTQIA+ Employees 

 

Tata Steel Mining Limited has announced many new leaves to improve employee experience and work-life balance for its employees across its offices and operating locations. The latest additions to leaves include leaves for maternity & surrogacy, child care, new-born parent, adoption (which include single male & transgenders), and menstrual.

 

The new maternity policy offers women employees paid leave for 26 weeks during pregnancy and post-delivery. The surrogacy leave offers paid leave for 12 weeks to the mother. Besides these, the new mothers will also enjoy four 30 minutes-each-breaks during a day for ‘Nursing Break’ till the child attains the age of fifteen months. The female workers will also be offered 7 days leave additionally per annum as ‘Child Care Leave’ till their child gets to the age of five. The Menstrual leave of 1 day each month has been introduced to be availed without pre-approval.

 

The leave for ‘New Born Parent’ allows the employees (eligible male employee, transgender, or one partner of gay/lesbian couple) to take leave for seven working days. Eligible female employees, transgender or anyone in case of same-sex partners, can also use the ‘Adoption Leave’ for a maximum of 12 weeks when adopting a child of five years of age and below.
